The WBCSD中国 office is located in Beijing. Its goal is to provide our members with a platform for greater insight, impact and advocacy in 中国 and globally.

目前, five major 中国-headquartered corporations are members of WBCSD, bringing their unique perspectives and capabilities to our global work. 另外, more than 120 WBCSD member companies work together in projects to advance sustainable business in 中国. Some of these projects involve the Chinese government at national or provincial level.

中国 is home to about one-fifth of the global population and has become the world's second largest economy after years of rapid development. The size of its population and the scale of its economy make 中国’s sustainability challenges globally relevant. The country’s economy continues to grow and urbanization accelerates, yet at the same time challenges remain around air pollution, 水和土壤, 生物多样性丧失, 气候危机. Access to clean and efficient energy, 减少碳排放, creating a circular economy and sustainable agriculture remain urgent priorities. 中国’s energy system and built environment will also undergo major transformations in the decade ahead.

As the second-largest economy in the world, 中国 benefits from its demographic dividend that supplies a large, 年轻的劳动力. In the decade ahead, 中国’s middle class will continue to expand, representing an estimated USD $14.3 trillion growth opportunity for businesses. By 2030, 中国 will account for nearly a quarter of the world’s energy demand. The country is also accelerating infrastructure investment for its post COVID-19 recovery. Labor-intensive green investments will offer additional employment opportunities for the workers. 中国’s domestic stimulus package also helps accelerate the greening of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), by promoting clean energy projects, minimizing the environmental impact of infrastructure, and protecting biodiversity and ecosystem services.

解决方案

The 中国 office supports WBCSD members through projects and networks in the country. We collaborate extensively with the Chinese government and other stakeholders to leverage local expertise and understand the specificities of the Chinese market, political and regulatory conditions and corporate priorities. The aim is to widen the scope of our global programs and to work towards initiatives that are effective in the Chinese context.

Low Emissions Economy Partnership (LEEP) Xiong’an, WBCSD’s local project on 城市 & 流动性, is run from the 中国 office. 之熊安 is co-developing solutions for a net zero carbon energy system and water efficiency (50L 首页 proof-of-concept) in Xiong’an New Area to become a new blueprint for sustainable urbanization in 中国.

Since 2003, WBCSD中国 has worked closely with our 全球网络 partner 中国 BCSD (工商)及国资委国务院. We also cooperate with various institutions and stakeholders, including 主业和BRIGC.
